What is your GPU history

Some Ati rage card,
radeon 9000 pro,
nvidia fx5600,
nvidia 7600gt,
amd 4850,
amd 4870,
amd 5850,
amd 6950,
amd 280x,
Nvidia gtx 970,
Nvidia gtx 1070.

I've gone through too many to remember but I salute the Voodoo 2 Banshee owners. That was my first proper card, back when 800x600 was a thing of beauty :D Bottle necked by a Cyrix 233 CPU :o it was terrible and amazing at the same time.

FX5950 Ultra
6800GT
7950 GX2
8800GTX
560Ti
780Ti

Getting the next Nvida GPU that is released this year as I was about to buy a 1080Ti until the price became extortionate.

Not done this for a while, lol!

S3 Virge 4Mb
GeForce mx4000
GeForce FX5200
6800GT
HD5770
HD7850
HD5770 cos my 7850 died :(

My favourite was the 6800GT, it was such a massive leap and lasted me for years before it started to struggle with anything.

Desperately need to get a new GPU but refusing to pay the silly money that they are going for these days. Kicking myself now as I bought an 8Gb RX480 for my son’s rig when they were £230. At the time I considered getting myself an RX470 for about £150 but decided against it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and all that!

Next GPU on my list could be a PS4 at this rate!

Can't remember the first cards I bought as that is 13-14 years ago.
But the latest ones I've bought that wasn't in a laptop are
AMD Sapphire 5770 (think it was)

Nvidia MSI 1080

3dfx Voodoo 3 16MB I think.

Voodoo ViRGE DX
Voodoo RushATI
All-in-Wonder Radeon 32MB
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500 64MB
3870 Crossfire
8800GT Sli
3870 X2 Crossfire 4Way Water-cooled, Crysis still wouldn't run :)
GeForce GTX 295 HOT!
Radeon 7970 Crossfire and then a 3rd 7950 flashed to 7970 so then 3Way.
GTX 680 4GB SLI/3 Way
Current EVGA 1080 Ti Sli

Mist some earlier cards, was in my party days so can’t for the life of me remember lol

Radeon X1900 XTX
Radeon 5870

1) 8mb ATI Rage Pro Turbo - was a total noob at the time, was built into motherboard on a Packard Bell PC from Currys in 1999. Quickly replaced with:

2) Voodoo 3 2000 PCI (PC had no AGP slot). Was ace at the time for Quake and UT.

3) GeForce 3 Ti200, loved Max Payne and RTCW on this.

4) Radeon 9800 Pro. Epic card at the time.

5) Geforce 9800 GTX.

6) Geforce GTX 470.

7) Geforce GTX 1070 (current card). Loving VR on the rift with this.

Might have missed a couple that I've forgotten about!

...waiting for a new decent mid range card at a decent price.

The 290,290x,390,390x never cease to amaze me. Still fantastic cards to this day. Ok the fans might be on lift off but they are just so capable. The 290 on release must have been game changing.

I'm still constantly impressed by this card, it's definitely been beaten abit now though, taken it apart a few times to repaste, had to superglue some internal bits back together but it's still going and running most games pretty damn well at 1440p.

Switched to PC gaming in late 2007, and started with one of the best bang-for-buck cards ever: the 8800GT.

About early 2009, I impulsively bought a GTX 260-216 and didn't really need it at 1680x1050 AKA sometimes even lower res with black bars.

In 2011, I upgraded to a 1200p monitor AKA sometimes 1080p, with a GTX 570, tho I could've done with a 560Ti.

In early 2014, I tried AMD for the first time with an R9 290 and it's still running today in my backup.

Last year, I was offered a great deal on a second-hand GTX 1070, otherwise I would've stuck with the 290 longer.

That 8800GT made a big impression on me, so I preferred Nvidia. But like I said, I tried AMD and my experience with that card was good - if they can make a big comeback, I'll gladly give them another go.

ATi Rage Pro 8MB integrated
Hercules 3D Prophet Kyro 32MB
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
GeForce 6800 GT 256MB (stuck a Zoltac copper cooler on there and OC'd to Ultra clocks)
ATi Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB (buggered from day one but at the time I had no clue and thought it was incompatibility due to a weird PCIe/AGP mobo)
ATi Radeon HD4870 512MB
ATi Radeon 5850 1GB
Nvidia GTX 570 1.28GB
Nvidia GTX 680 2GB
Nvidia GTX 660 1GB (while awaiting RMA)
Nvidia GTX 780 3GB (RMA'd)
Nvidia GTX 970 3.5GB (replacement for the above)
Nvidia GTX 980 Ti 6GB

Despite all the green team cards I'd say I'm an AMD man.
