What is your internet security setup?

I know there are various threads about these things but hopefully not one encompassing all of these various aspects.

I am forever searching for the 'complete' computer protection package. Now, I don't want something that bogs down your computer or causes unnecessary fuss, but I do want top level protection.

I thought it would be useful if people could break what internet security software they use into sections, and give your opinions on why you think it is best. So -

Anti-Virus -

Anti-Malware/Adware/etc -

Firewall -

Anything else (eg. browser protection like NoScript) -

Obviously common sense is a given ;)

I just have a linux box that acts as an egress firewall blocking all non-established inbound connections and properly configured PCs. Don't use any third party host-based protections, except Chrome adblocker and notscripts if you want to count that.

For any files I have suspicions of, I run them through virustotal.com

Hardware firewall and my right index finger ;)

I don't run active anti-virus on my own PCs, I use firefox with a script blocker (based on noscript) and a couple of other security add-ons (I don't rate Chrome personally it has many similiar potential security holes to IE) - downloaded files get scanned with AVG (not running 24x7) and/or a web based anti-virus like housecall.

my router protects me from the outside world by acting as a NAT device. other than that, nothing. certainly not recommending this for other people but i've done ok for the last 10 years or so i've been online.

oh and in before

"how do you know you're not infected?"
"you're part of a botnet responsible bringing down 1000s of other machines and you don't even know it"

i have no security because I am super mega impatient and I have to have everyone as fast as possible....

I jsut have w7 UAC, chrome and from time to time run a maleare bytes over teh machine..

the router is obviously NAT so technically I have a firewall

:D

I'd bet that a good number of the people saying stuff like that are actually the ones infected and not know it heh.

i wonder how many people are "protected" upto the eyeballs but don't have any backup solutions in place? i'm more concerned about hardware failure than i am of internet nasties which is why i have my data replicated across 2 computers and one external drive.

I run a NAT firewall and MSE on all my PCs, that is all. As marc said, data loss concerns me more, ive got my data replicated on 3 PCs, two externals across two sites 50 miles apart :D, short of an epic coincidence or nuclear strike I should be safe.

Erm.
Ghostery, Adblock plus and Noscript for Firefox.
I have Kaspersky more out of habit than anything else :/
Have everything backed up onto external drives and stupidly important stuff is backed up into Dropbox.

I'm a bit paranoid on that count I have a mini-ITX box acting as a NAS with a bunch of external USB2.0 discs connected to it using software mirroring (no taking chances with RAID) - also the most important files are backed up to the 16gig SD card in my phone. Don't really have anything that warrants off-site backup, but I'd be annoyed to lose stuff to accidental deletion or a single drive failure.

And then a fire burns it all to the ground. You need backup of some sort off site as well. :p

MSE
Windows 7 firewall
WOT on Firefox
Malwarebytes to check every so often

That's the lot and I've never had a problem :)

I have AVG internet security, I have contemplated going without, but doesn't really bother me too much. Router is a firewall also.

I like to thoroughly back up all my viruses too!

Windows defender+firewall, router, adblock and ccleaner occasionally.
I used to swear by AVG but then it started getting pushy for money and trying to add more features that I wanted, so it got the boot!
