What is your resting heart rate?

Having not measured this for many years, I have checked mine whilst sat at work over the past couple of months and was surprised how low it was.

Generally in the low-50s, sometimes dipping as low as 48 (age 37). Average is supposedly 60 to 100bpm. This either means I'm relatively fit and well, or that I'm suffering heart failure.....

It seems to be higher after I've been out and picked up lunch - afternoons are probably 2-4 bpm higher than the mornings.

Anyway, thought I'd see how GD stacks up to the norm. Maybe we should add a poll?

What are you checking it with?

My fitbit is reporting my resting heart rate over the last year has averaged 63.

My BP monitor shows my heart rate has been between 54 and 87.

My apple watch sometimes gives me warnings at night. Drops to about 48 when sleeping. Generally 50s when resting throughout the day. Up to 60s. I'm overweight tbh but fitness still isn't too bad. I'm 33.

I'm 32, I measured it about 2 nights ago at 52 before going to bed. I exercise 3-5 times a week lifting weights and doing some interval style cardio

Mine can be in the mid 40s first thing when I wake while still lying in bed, but I drink a lot of caffeine compared to many and I'm easily stressed, so when sitting around it's typically mid 60s.

Used the EliteHRV app a couple of years back while getting back into frequent fitness via cycling.

Between 45 and 52 usually for resting, I'm forty over weight and not nearly active enough to combat my love of food.... 2 spin classes a week is not enough :(

61bpm, I’m 28 and go to the gym 5 days a week.

I think unless you’re extremely fit a below or above average heart rate should worry you.

between 60-70 when sat and milling about and 50-60 in bed last time I checked.

I suffer from anxiety and at times it'll creep higher (80 - 90 sat). In a panic attack it can be as high as 140, but that's not happened in a couple of years.

Mine is very high at the minute, between 70 and 80 sat upright, lower when lounging.

Although I freely admit I've got a couple of stone to drop as my weight has crept up again over the last couple of years.

If you aren't feeling symptomatic at all, ie feeling dizzy/feint often, or getting quite short of breath at low levels of exertion I wouldn't be concerned. If you are then go to your GP and they might give you an ecg.

I agree with Goodie here.

I don't carry symptoms of a Heart problem, but due to Heart failure getting my grandfather we chose to do a few ECGs , blood tests and a 24hour ECG.

Everything is fine, the rhythm of the heart is strong and fine (the odd ectopic which is normal) .

Anxiety is just a *****, but propanolol is great (although I no longer need / take it)!

Mine is low 50s. I was in for an op the other week and it was low on the monitor and the nurse asked if I was fairly active. I'm 36 and I climb, row about 50km a week, run, and lift so should hopefully be reasonably fit!

In my 20s I was 35-45 but was very fit. I am not so much now, I am active and kitesurf a lot but I am about 30kg over my target and as such my resting is 60-65bpm
