What is your work/home PC setup like?

I just use my home desktop for work as everything is online, the work laptop only gets pulled out for one excel spreadsheet at the end of each project.
Same here, most applications are online so VPN/MFA access and work using my desktop. The work laptop is only used when I am not working from home.

I use 2 PCs, one just remotes into my office PC so is older and reduces the wear on my main PC. Currently use dual 24 inch monitors which I switch between the PCs and my KB/M and Mic are using a USB switch box between the two PCs. Works pretty well.

I have a home PC, Home Server and work Macbook all rigged up through a KVM switch to a 40'' ultrawide monitor (AOC AGON AG405UXC). My old 32'' ultrawide is wall-mounted above it and connected to the home PC as a second monitor so I can have media playing on that whilst doing work on the Macbook :D

So u got two keyboards and mice?

2-1 HDMI switcher on each monitor then swap the usb reciever for the keyboard and mouse between machines. I dont swap reguarly though, once a day tops.

At work I have a KMV switch as i reguarly swap between laptop and desktop. Its a pain and really i just need a decent CAD laptop but hey ho!

I have a 1440p 25" dell that I have attached to a dell dock for both my personal laptop and work laptop, then I have my gaming pc attached to a 1440p 27" monitor and the 25".

I should sort a kvm style setup for the 25", as it's annoying switching outputs on tbe monitor when I want to dual monitor the gaming pc!

Reading some replies, a wide screen monitor would be amazjng, but my own desk isn't large enough for a 34" wide to replace the 25"

When working from home home which I do about once a week, I place my laptop on top of my pc case and plug the monitor, mouse and keyboard into it. I have a HDMI cable coming out of the monitor just for the laptop. Now ideal but works for me.

If its only 1 day a week then its not so bad, I work from home all week so having some simple enough saves the hassle of keeping on changing between the 2

Good point. It’s no hassle for me but I’m not there often.

Hey, do we have a thread on here about WFH setups?

I am curious how everyone connects their work laptops and personal PCs to their monitors. Do you use a USB switch or another method?

I’m trying to find the ideal balance for using my home PC alongside my work setup. I have three monitors—one 27-inch and two 22-inch—so I’d love to know the best way to configure them.

Would be great to hear what works for you! Pics would be super helpful too.

Ugh. It's a bit of a bodge..!
I've got 3 external monitors. They all have DP and HDMI inputs.
My gaming PC has 2xDP out, and 1x HDMI out. I bought a Dell D6000S Dock for my work Macbook Pro. That's also got 2xDP and 1xHDMI output.

So, I bought a 4k Displayport KVM which has a 4-port USB Hub in it; that's where my keyboard, mouse, and webcam connect. That's one monitor handled, USB peripherals, and one each of the displayport outputs. It's only capable of 4k60, so it's not my 'main' monitor. That leaves 1xDP and 1xHDMI apiece. Those go into the other two screens; I have to flit through the menus and set their inputs each time I game or start work after gaming. Takes 10 seconds, but it's not as slick as the KVM button press!

Laptop for work sitting next to my C4 with my gaming rig on the other side.

I use same keyboard and mouse for both with a USB switcher hub thingy.

Works well.

I could never find a kvm suitable and cheap enough to support my ultrawide monitor properly. So I've got a USB switch hub with shared peripherals between gaming rig and work laptop, some plug directly to either system, eg webcam into work dock, gaming headset into gaming rig. Then each plugs into a different port on the monitor, so I just switch input on the monitor and switch the USB hub to go back and forth.

My main/gaming PC with two monitors takes up most of my desk, then my work laptop is on a stand (screen at eye level) with wireless keyboard and mouse in front. Foot rest and lumbar supportive chair. If i need to use a second screen i just plug a hdmi cable in and unplug the display port cable. I tried with a box to plug everything into and switch between monitors but it was so messy and never worked well.
