I'm looking to upgrade my 4.5 year old desktop come Xmas time and just wondered what new hardware will be available around that time. IvyBridge wont be until Q1 2012... perhaps this is worth waiting for?

BD should be out by then? What's with the delay on this, surely it's not going to be worth it?

Nvidia got anything in the pipelines?

Any new SSD's due out? Cases?

Cheers!

The only thing I'm excited about is the new wave of android tablets and phones. In the PC world, not a lot. Who needs more performance on their PCs now though, not much difference in games nowadays anyway, everything runs very nicely on my HD5870 still! Maybe I'm too easily satisfied.

I feel exactly the same as you, there just isn't enough games coming out to push the limits on pc. I still got a ati 4890 which still kicks the arse out of every game i throw at it. Seems pointless going for the best at present.

My cpu isn't a problem at all. Apart from the new gfx I think I'm done, got a touchpad, probably a new phone before then, not interested in ssd (wouldn't benifit me)

Only purchase I intend for xmas is a gt30 plasma tv

Some true comments... Any new tablets ready to hit the market to contend with Android and IOS. I can't stand Android, however I'm the opposite of an Apple fan, although I do love IOS. I wish something else would come out to contend with it.

Am I right in assuming that the release of the HD7XXX series should make way for a price drop on the current generation cards? :D

You'll have to wait and see.

If the HD 7xxx series cards are priced higher, or there aren't huge stocks of the HD 6xxx series cards left, then prices may not change that dramatically.
