Just looking around OcUK and noticed this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £539.99
1 x MSI HD 7970 Lightning BOOSTED Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £499.99
Total : £1,052.88 (includes shipping : £10.75).

What happened to the prices?! thats an extra £100 on the Matrix and an extra £70 on the Lightning! An Enthusiast level 680 (SOC) is down at £450.

Edit: apologies if this is old news

lol that's what I thought too.

:(

Its not like I was going to buy one (again) or anything, but the pricing hasn't been that high in a long time.

Stock of 10+ on each item too. When I purchased a regular Lightning in May last year it was £379 down from £449.

I Expect a little price fluctuation but not by £100's

It was only a matter of time considering the domination currently being shown by the red team in the 3dmark thread. AMD looking to cash in methinks. :D

some serious price gouging there :(

that said it was pretty much expected as there seems to be a shortage on the high end 7970s atm, though another £120 would put you on a 7990

Edit: Christ I didn't realize how short the supplies were, the 3 main rivals to ocuk are pretty much dry on cards.

Yes, but their prices haven't shot up

I priced these last night vrs another company and was like WTF OCUK doing? I was gonna swap my 7970 Direct CU 2 for a matrix but it seems loads people cant clock them as high as the Direct CU 2 and they are a lot noiser so ill just keep what i got.

What happened to the prices?!

It's that man gregs fault!:(

8pack told gibbo to take a look at the 3DMark thread.

I paid £352 delivered all in for my MSI 7970 Lightning BE a week ago on the 1 day special. Being RMA'd and asked for a refund on it with the 2d clock problem.

When I noticed the price at £479 few days ago I thought the VAT had been added twice in error as they were £399inc full price just a few days before (now £399+).

Quite bizarre if it is correct - still normal (sub 400 elsewhere)!

Other good 7970, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI... are still available for £300 to £330 at other retailers.
