Ok so i buy all new computer components for BF3 but primarily for music production and graphic design

i get the following :

i5 2500k
sapphire 6950 2G flex addition.
seagate 1t HD
MSI P67A GD53 1155
Bitfenix shinobi case
Corsair Ven 8GB
OCZ 700w

not to sound like an A hole

but

Before i get the usual , did you install the stand offs , did you have an anti static band on , do you have a surge protector etc etc , yes

been building rigs for over 10 years now, so know the dance if you know what i mean.

Ok so build the rig and everything is fine for a little over a week of usage, and then come to switch the machine on and nothing , wont post.
at first i think oh well small glitch lets try again

same thing.

NO signal being shown on monitor all fans working all the lights on the motherboard ON.

so i try the obvious,

Cmos , jumper , removing RAM try 1 stick , remove PCI x , etc etc ,

nothing will work.

Ive had Power supplies go bang Ive had hard drives fail but nothing like this.
its completely useless.

So i test all the components on my old rig and RMA the following.

GFX card ( will not work in either my old rig or another system.)
Motherboard

the RAM and HD's etc work fine in other setups.
tested the PSU in my old system and it worked ( only tested it for 1 day tho )

the RMA comes back on both parts as faulty and OCUK are spot on and replace the motherboard with a different model because the MSI is out of stock.

i get the following back :

Sapphire 6950 2g
gb z68xp-ud3

i assemble the components on the 18th November.

i check to see all is running fine , Temps , mem tests etc
i sigh in relief and install BF3 and have a weekend of being utterly rubbish.

Tuesday 22nd November.

i switch the machine on and nothing and nothing :(

i try again and the system revs if you know what i mean. fans run for 5 seconds then stop but i can hear the HD working.

NO motherboard lights
NO post

Nada.

Test the GFX card in old setup, it keeps blacking out on the screen and wont make it to windows but i can get into the BIOS.

So Ive RMA'd the GFX card , motherboard and im dong the PSU.

sending it back Monday

First of all i want to get this straight Overclockers have been nothing but fantastic with me , they have responded to every question Ive had and responded immediately , this post is nothing about customer service etc.

I just need advice. what do you guys think is happening ?????

don't know if Ive been lucky over the years but Ive never experienced this before.

thanks in advance people

Well RMA that PSU and plug the PC directly into the mains socket. I have seen atleast one thread where a surge protector caused start-up issues.

wish it was the surge protector , my old rig works directly into the mains and through the surge protector.

this stuff is dead its not a start up issue.

also i would like to mention this is with zero overclocking on any component.

Then maybe the PSU is killing the parts? seems strange that items such as the GFX and motherboard have both died twice and they are connected directly to the unit.

that was my thought this time round , i did test the PSU on my old system and i was reluctant to RMA it because of the charge if found not faulty , but personally i cant think of any other component that could cause this much damage.
