Well good evening! Just interested in the keyboards everyone uses and whether they're any good.

I want to upgrade my ageing Saitek Eclipse and after eyeing up OcUK's stock I quite fancy treating myself to something a bit better. I have a few requirements though:

I write constantly, so it must be a good keyboard to type on with keys that aren't too noisy - silent would be fabulous.

A genuinely good backlight - my current Saitek looks great from over the top of it, but viewed from the normal (seated) angle the backlighting is abysmal.

Thirdly, it must be able to take years of constant use and the odd attack by a 17 month-old.

Do any of your keyboards fit the bill?

G11, nice to type on not sure about quietness though (the space bar is the loudest key) back lighting is great every key shines bright and you can adjust the brightness or if they lights go off all together, it is sturdy and i can see it lasting a long time.

Logitech g15 ver 1, bought second hand, always wanted one for the lcd display. Very handy in game, prior to that i had a saitek eclipse 2. The backlighting on the saitek was a lot better than the g15.

I use a BTC 6300, its by far the best board i've ever used and i've used a lot, but always come back to the trusty old BTC.

The only problem i have now is they are no longer made or sold anywhere, the odd one comes on the bay every now and then but they go for stupid prices.

I'm currently trying loads of different keyboards as I fear my BTC isn't going to last forever.

Backlights are for people who dont know where the keys are.

I just love the way the keys feel under my fingers :D

laptop : alienware m17x funky backlit jobbie - this kind of fits your bill :(
work : mac wireless
pc : logitech g19 - this definitely fits your bill!

Used a G11 but the fad of the macro keys soon wears off. After that it's just really big and ugly.

Now using a Mac keyboard which is very quiet to type on, and naturally very well made. Doesn't have a backlight but it doesn't really matter because I don't need to look at it anyway :)

Saitek Eclipse II.

Can't see me ever moving to another keyboard as the key lighting is amazing - and I have yet to find a keyboard that is as good in the dark. It's also quite tough as my kids and wife have battered it over the years and it's still mint.
