What keyboard d'you use?

I use a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard, bought from OcUK in 2007.

Although that wouldn't suit your needs :p I've read and seen good things about the G11 and G15 keyboard, so they would be my recommendation.

Well i replaced my cheap black plastic Compaq one with a cheap beige Compaq one from about 15 years ago. It's not mechanical, but it has a huge steel plate in it which means absolutely no flex, and it's far nicer to type on as a result. That's all that matters really, isn't it?

I only ever buy Microsoft keyboards, current one is a Wireless 3000 v2. Had a few MS Naturals of various types prior to this one.

I always go MS with Keyboard and mouse.

Atm I have a Microsoft Sidewinder X6;

My first backlit keyboard and I can't fault it really, the red back-light is fully adjustable in intensity, and I can see it just as well from the seated position as from above.

It has removable numpad which is good if you need a bit of desk space, or is you are left handed as it can be put on either side of the keyboard.

On the typing front it types well, although is not silent.

I haven't had it to long so can't comment to much on durability, however if it's like any other MS hardware it should last ages.

Also it has loads of macro features for games etc. I've even set up a couple for copy and paste (lazy I know :p)

Good keyboard to type on with keys that aren't too noisy - silent would be fabulous - Check

A genuinely good backlight - Check

Be able to take years of constant use and the odd attack by a 17 month-old - Well :)

I have the Luxeed. Each key (apart from spacebar) can be assigned by its own colour. Camera flash makes it look dim, but it is bright. I have synaesthesia, so that is how I see each letter.

An old Logitech Ultra-X. Sadly a couple of years ago they completely changed the style but kept the name. The new one is OK but not a patch on the older one. I want one of those old Cherry clicking keyboards and a black chiclet keyboard with a number pad which doesn't cost the earth.
