What keyboard?

Hi,

Been looking to get a new keyboard as I'm currently using a rather old IBM keyboard that came with our Netvista.

I don't want to spend any ridiculous amount (e.g. not the G15) so I've been looking at these two:

Microsoft Black Digital MediaPro Keyboard
Logitech Media Keyboard Elite

Both are very nice, but I wondered which one is best? Are either horrible to type on (very clunky / too soft)?

I'd like it to last a good few years as well.

I don't particularly like the weird F keys on the Logitech Media Keyboard Elite, are there any versions of that keyboard with normal F keys?

Thanks,
Craig.

Logitech one is good. I spilt iron bru all over mine now the keys are stuck though ;(. But its a good keybaord.

I haven't tried either of them although I have used a Logitech DiNovo and several Microsoft keyboards (currently using the Multimedia v1.0) and I have to say I preferred the Microsoft models, the action just feels right to me although I can't say that the Logitech won't also be good since I haven't used it.

I have a Logitech Internet Pro and I got it for £10 and it does everything I want it to do.

Fine for games and all other stuff. :)

I had the elite, it's very good, the rounded keys are like normal keys but shiny and rounded. Can't fault it except it's wired :p the wireless one costs a bit more but is better but then I got the S510 now which is even better @ £35 :)

(top one is the elite)

I game allot too and have no issues at all. No lag either and my batteries are still full since first install (13.10.2006)

The G15 is a bit too pricey and too bulky for my liking.

Gonna go with the wired version, I really don't mind the wires enough to spend more on a wireless :)

I think I'm going to go for the Logitech - the Microsoft one is a bit too much like my wireless set I have for my second PC (same layout etc.)

What's the typing like on the Logitech Elite one? Does the space-bar get loose or anything like that?

Thanks,
Craig.

If you have it for a year it will feel more free but not dodgy :) you can call up logitech at any time though and complain about any issue and they will send you a new one for free.

Logitech RMA service is amazing.

I'm using a black cherry from OC. I feel the Logitech mechs are a bit flimsy, my CTRL only lasted couple of months. Not bashing it either (ie weight training in GTA SA!) just usual FPS.

They sure are, that's one of the reasons I want a Logitech keyboard - they replaced my MX1000 no problems when the battery life was rubbish.

If the keys get horrible on it (loose etc.) then i'll just RMA it - no keyboards keys should go flimsy, wobbly or horrible.

It's time to RMA my MX1000 soon to I think, it's almost 2 years old and the battery is losing it's powah!
