Hey up,

Just almost finished building my little brothers PC so he can do some youtubing, streaming and video editing for his Xbox games as well as the bit of light gaming every now and again.

Now, I know Sony Vegas prefers AMD and I think aftereffects is Nvidia. Also, I am looking to get a 2nd hand card as I only have a max budget of £80 on this and would like to not spend it all as I could do with a couple more things for the PC.

The rest of the system is as follows:

Corsair 380T Mini ITX case
Intel 2600 i7 CPU
Asus P8H61-I Mini ITX Motherboard (only one I could find under £90!)
16gb DDR3 Corsair Ram
EVGA 550w GS Gold Modular PSU

So yeah, its mainly for some video editing work, but I know you can't get anything specific for that for £80! Also wants to be able to play games as well, but not expecting the world.

Thanks,

Grady

I wasn't aware that Vegas preferred AMD or that AE runs better on Nvidia hardware. Interesting. :)

With that kind of budget, I would aim for something like a second hand AMD 7950 / 7970 / 280X / GTX670 / GTX680. That range of cards will pretty much run anything well, providing you don't crank up the resolution very, very high / add super intensive levels of AA.

Vegas prefers the use of OpenCL which is the reason why AMD cards are a lot better than Nvidia cards. Issue with that is if you use the Mainconcept render you are limited with choice since support for that stopped during the HD6000 and GTX500 days.

Though people have reported since I last checked that the R9 290 works, could be wrong, do research this.

But the best confirmed card to work is the HD6970.

I use a HD6850, which paired with a 6 core xeon X5660 it obliterates a 1080p 60fps 50mbps render, lightning quick, Though its not good for gaming, I attempted division on low res and low settings and it was a no go xD
