hey guys,

i picked up rome TW 2 for £15 off steam and i know the game still uses the 1 core but what kind of performance are you guys getting with AMD FX 8xxx chips?

im getting around 45-60FPS on high.

my system spec
FX [email protected]
CHVFZ
2X4GB 1600mhz XMS3
HD 7990
OCZ 120GB VERTEX 2E
1TB HDD

is this to be expected from my rig? i know AMD's single core performance is pants compared to intel, may build up my i5 760 as another PC for TW and old games.

will multi CPU support be introduced to this game? its a shame that it only uses the 1 core, so much more performance could be had if it was optimized properly.

thanks

I've got a Phenom 2 1055T @ 3.6 (I know you said FX XXXX)
2x4GB 1600MHz Hyper X
Got it installed on my HDD
Radeon 7950
Win 7

and i'm getting 40-50fps on max settings without V-Sync

Rome Total War 2 doesn't use 1 core, so that's the performance you're going to get.
IMO, your games are more suited to Intel (As I stated, many times about bottlenecking)
If you'd gone for a 2560x1440 screen, your bottleneck wouldn't really be there.

will my i5 760@4ghz be any better at this game?

i think my FX chip is amazing, rome 2 is the only game that has been abit poor, shogun 2 is fine as is everything else.

Really?

I've got it on my:
i7 4770K @ 4.5GHz
8GB 1600MHz Corsair RAM
Installed on HDD
GTX680 @ 1250/1800
Win 7

At maximum (Extreme++) settings I get a 5-20FPS slideshow...
