My cousin has just upgraded from Base Sky Broadband, to Unlimited.

What kind of speed sjould he expect?

His stats are:

Sync Speed : 2048kbps
Attenuation : 25db
SNR Margin : 33.8db

Thats all i can remember, When he was on the phone they said he could get a maximum of 6.5mb.

Our/His exchange is here, and is LLU enabled.

Cheers

I dont think you read it properly, He was on sky base (2mb) and has just upgraded, in the past two hours.

Sky said it would take a few days to reach the maximum speed.

According to the checker on Kitz you should be getting around 18144kbps, but the snr is quite high so could be some room for maneuver :)

That's what I was thought, the guy on the phone said 6.5mb and i said about the attenuation being low and he replied "I don't know what that means". After some persuading he finally put them on the up to 20meg package, lets see what they actually get :)

The speed of the line still hasn't fluctuated since calling them at 3:00. I thought the training period starting instantly?

I take it you've taken the obvious step of restarting his router, and I mean properly turning it off and leaving it off for a few minutes.

Also why would it start instantly, if they're making changes to your account it might take a few hours or more for those to go through all their systems.

Okay, bit of an update. Before the router was on a Bog standard telephone extension.

Moved it to master yesterday before they did the changes and he now has these stats...

Connection Speed : 5023kbps
Line attenuation : 22.8db
Noise Margin : 29db

Putting these into the calculator says he should see 21mbps?

Yeah, i know. He is still on the 3 day training period. The speed will be steadily increasing i think until they hit a 6db noise margin.

ADSL2/+ doesn't require a training period to reach it's full speed...

Get in contact with Sky and request the SNR be put to a 6dB profile.

I swear sky do DLM?
Its gone from 2048 (2meg) to 5023 since yesterday and has only lost about 4db noise margin.
