What kinda PCs do the OCUK team use (and you?)

I saw an article about the PCs that the Guys at Valve use (mostly i7s and extreme builds lol) and it got me thinking about what kinda PCs the guys use for their work?

At my work we currently use crappy dual core intels and 2 gig ram. It makes me a sad panda when I am trying to do something memory/performance intensive that my home PC could do in a flash when my work pc takes minutes to do.

We have just gone from P4 1.8ghz, windows 2000, 256mb RAM to e7400 2.8ghz, 2gig RAM and windows XP which is more than enough for what we use.

The pain that using 256mb caused me will last a while. Constant page-file use

I keep joking to people at work that I would be much more productive if I could just bring my PC in with me. All I need is a big enough backpack xD

In college most of the machines are Old P4's with like 512mb of RAM.

Some newer ones have came for the networking rooms, for OS Virtualisation; Intel Pentium Duo CPUs, 2GB of PC6400 RAM, 200GB HDD's (not that they get utilised, as it's all networked map drives we work on) and basic 17" CRT Screens.

I got forced to use macs at school =[
What is the point of doing computing when you are forced to use Apple Mac software to learn, instead of using Word like 90%* of the workforce. *random figure.

Me too. Its not that bad. it does what I need it to do to be honest and its perfect, only need it for MS offices aps and I sometimes run some Monte Carlo (MCNP & Microshield & Atilla) calculations on it for a few hours and its fine.

Dell P4, 2.8 hyperthreaded. 2.5GB RAM (just upgraded from 512MB as this was not enough to run 2+ virtual machines)

The operators were using celery 1.6? with 256MB RAM till a couple of months ago, got them upgraded to C2D 2GHz with 2GB RAM
This is for development!

nice 24" screen mind ;)

my PC at the OCUK HQ has

2 million terraflops
3 hamsters RAM sticks
it even has a flux capacitor

I'll give you this much for it ;)
