What laptop for £780?

I just bought a laptop a few weeks ago, having researched for what seemd like ages.

I got an Asus U46SV. It was originally £700 but I got it in the sales for £600.

14inch screen, i5 processor, Nvidia GT540M, 500gb hd, dvdrw, bluetooth, usb2 and 3, etc. Its reasonably light at 2kg, massive battery life (claims about 10 hours but I've never tested that) and can play modern games at reasonable settings.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Undecided, what would you personally get?

Asus N55SF £750ish

Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz.
GT555M 2GB.
RAM 6GB.
640GB HDD.
Blu-ray combo.
Bang & Olufsen ICEpower sound technology.
MATT 1600*900 Display.

Happily playing MW3 and Skyrim med/high at native res.

I've just got a Dell XPS 15 " (L502X) off the Dell Outlet. Fully loaded except for Bluray drive for £689.

wow that is good value. Nothing from Dell (maybe from the outlet) or Lenovo seems to come close for that price. Might have to extend my laptop search to include Asus.

The N55SF is one that was on my list and i saw an unboxed return for £700 the other day (now gone). However what puts me off about that laptop is the external subwoofer and the keyboard looks very plasticy (i know they are usually plastic). The 555M is a good card though. Finding stock might be tough now, the last stock i saw available was £800.

I went for the Dell XPS 15" (L502x) instead with the 1920x1080 screen and JBL 2.1 speakers as these seem to be "best in class".

Even better value once l had claimed my VAT back :) The joys of being overseas :)

The 3D L702x laptops on the Dell Outlet are snapped up very quickly. I managed to get the following a couple of months ago:

XPS L702x
Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz
16GB Crucial DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHZ (4 DIMMs)
2 x 500GB Serial ATA II (7200 RPM) Hard Drive
3GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Graphics Card - 3D Capable
17.3in FHD 3D WLED TL (1920X1080) 1080p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (2x2 b/g/+ Bluetooth Combo Card)
Primary 9-cell 90W/HR LI-ION
English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64Bit OS)
Certified Refurbished

The 16GB Crucial DDR3 is an upgrade. It originally came with 6GB DDR3.

The laptop cost £684 delivered from the Outlet and the upgrade to Crucial 16GB (4 x 4GB) cost £75 (the 6GB is now spare). I also bought a pair of Nvidia 3D glasses for £35.
