What Laptop should I buy £150 budget?

I want it for MS Office, using the internet and running educational cd programs.

I've been browsing on ebay around the £150 mark.

What I don't get is that some cheaper laptops £100 have got 2Ghz etc but cost less then new ones with 1.4Ghz?

Any recommendations will be welcomed.

Well Ghz is not a clear cut representation of how powerful the laptop will be, it will all depend on the processor. If the machine is just for MS Office and general web browsing then you can get away with integrated graphics card and just need to look for something with a decent CPU and RAM. You just need to look for the best machine that you can get for your money as some second hand bargains can be had and then consult various review sites. Notebookcheck.net and trusted reviews are good places to start.

dont forget that 2ghs P4d = crap compared to a 1.4ghz core2 solo (or what ever they brand single core core 2's as_)

For £150 Get yourself a IBM thinkpad T60. Exellent Laptop's. Will come with a core duo cpu.
