Really I are so lazy to look yourself ?:>
No budget as well - 2-3k you looking for it or even better ...... but best - get the tower pc ....

I was going to upgrade my desktop pc, but i travel a lot and its a bit hard carting a pc around with you all the time :p

The reason I ask here is I hope people will be able to give me informed opinions, I have looked at lots of laptops, some of the MSI and OCUK laptops on this site are quite nice but after reading some forum posts, I am again not sure as some people have said about cooling issues and overheating on some laptops.

I like several different laptops

The new Dell XPS 15 looks nice but lacks in the graphics department with only a NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 750M 2GB, 15.6 inch LED Backlit Touch Display with Truelife and QHD+ resolution (3200 x 1800)

The new macbook pro looks ok too but pricey

MSI GT60 20D 15.6" 3K Resolution, i7-4700MQ, 16GB DDR3, 3x 128GB SSD and 750GB HDD, GTX 780M 4GB, BD Writer, Killer NIC - Windows 8
MSI GT70 2OD-099UK 17.3" True HD LED, Intel i7-4700MQ, 16GB DDR3, 3x 128GB SSD, 750GB HDD, GTX 780M 4GB, Blu-Ray Writer - Windows 8 Laptop

OcUK Ultimate Gamer P370SM3 17.3" 120Hz 3D LED Full HD Intel Haswell Processor, 1600MHz DDR3, SSD + HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 SLi Graphics Cards - Windows Laptop - Black

can anyone recommend any other laptops or give some informed opinions on the above if owned?

So you basically want a powerhouse

You therefore want a powerful CPU, so go for the i7-4800MQ or 4900, the 4700 probably won't be able to do all of what you want smoothly, the extra £100 on a better CPU will be more than worth it

RAM is RAM

GPU wise, Nvidia's CUDA tech will help with video editing (bare in mind, shadowplay is not enabled on mobile GPU's) also it is by far the best mobile GPU atm. Make sure to go with a 780M

Storage is storage, my Western Digital Black head read/write at around 100/80, so they aren't slow

Cooling, now this is why I steer away from MSI, they use one fan and massive heatsinks to cool both the CPU and GPU. Now with games that are tolling on both, so much throttling and stuff. Just stay away from MSI

As for Clevo (OCUK) and Alienware, Clevo have seemed to step up their game this gen and their cooling is probably on par if not better than Alienwares offering. You will see high temps compared to the PC, but just look at the size of the heatsinks PC users have then you understand why 80C is the norm when rendering ect.

All the of manufactures don't allow upgrading, but they usually work anyway, Alienware so far seems to have the best compatibility, then MSI/Clevo. But this is only with the GPU, you cannot upgrade CPU out of its generation. So you'll be limited to the 4930MX which is a beast of a CPU

As for screen, MSI probably use the best panels, then Clevo/Alienware.

As for what I would buy. With you linking 2k + laptops, with a 2k budget.
You can pick yourself up an

"Vortex IV"
i7-4800MQ
16GB RAM
750GB HDD x2
256GB M-Sata
780M
Intel 6300
Windows 8.1 Pro

£1,831.00

There's a lot to be said for speccing up bespoke requirements in a Clevo chassis - certainly a viable option these days. That said, purely aesthetically, not that sure on some of the current batch - I mean, I am not sure about illuminated logo'd trackpad and or what can only be described as a spectrum analyser on some!

Performance wise I'd go for anything with GTX770M graphics and above. But since you're travelling a lot you might want to consider getting a more lightweight and portable ones.

I will look at either:
1. MSI GS70 (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-105-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828)
- Slim, lightweight, decent storage

2. Gigabyte P35K (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-008-GI&groupid=959&catid=1828)
- IPS Display, slim, lightweight, decent storage

But if you don't care about portability just extreme performance, then would suggest go for something else :)

Dangerous posts ^^ considering you are on OcUK's boards.....

Model its not actually comp. name is there? But yea ...close on the line....
Never bought from the comp. but by the look of it sometime I rather pay little extra if the support is better, extra paste (like some1 mentioned) used to cool ur CPU

Agreed, comp not named but pretty much saying that comp's offering is better....

Anywhoooo, I agree that a little extra cost is worthwhile for build-quality and support, as well as a strong community provision/interaction.

Hhhmmmm, P35K is enticing, but there is quite a premium over the P25w for the extra SSD, IPS screen and blu-ray burner (which I do actually want ) against a lesser GPU
