What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

Well I've tried a few, but it always the same, stuff just doesn't work.
Tried Kali <<< whats that all about HaxOrBox ect.. nothing serious there.
Tried Fedora.... can't login to the forum... bluetooth doesn't work properly... packet drops on youtube. I've not got into to photos yet!
All I do is test stuff using linux tools mostly and always have. Yep tick aye that works.
I might as well just stick to WSL because it all works.
NIGHTMARE!

The iStream3L connected but no sound even though it shows some kind of passthrough to somewhere, very unstable the whole thing.
tried about 3 bluetooth speakers and got a very old amp that connected once with sound after a head scratching few hours.
Started with Fedora-KDE-Desktop-Live-42-1.1.x86_64.iso played about with that then updated to the latest via updates, still the same.

Edit:
Works fine with the following.

Code:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎01/‎02/‎2025
OS build 26100.4946
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.197.0

Looks like I'm settling on ZorinOS Core. It's so beautiful and everything seems to just work with this older kernel (6.8).

Might as well try that then, will I be able to login to the Forums after I've moved to that?
I'm using passkey.
Where's the passkey stored? If its on your phone and you're trying to use that, does seem like Linux supports Passkey over bluetooth (at least I've never been able to get it working reliably)

Well that didn’t last long. Woke up this morning and it would only boot into emergency mode. Seems to be something to do with nvidia yet again. As this is my only PC, I can’t afford all this messing about so I have to back to Windows 11 and do my Linux training in virtual machines. A shame!

I've put Linux Mint on my low end laptop (Celeron 1.8Ghz and 12GB DDR4 RAM) after never using a Linux operating system before. I opted for Mint because it's apparently not very resource intensive and runs fairly smoother than Windows 11, which so far I have to agree. Are there any caveats to using Mint? My main use case is mostly emails and browsing

I'm using Zorin most stuff works, the bluetooth once disconneted never connects ever again until you delete the device then re-add it. youtube works ok
Brave browser is irritating trying to turn off the silly add blocker thing,,,, to be continued..
Using KeePassXC version 2.7.10 as local server with browser plugin for passkey login. what a faff!
Firefox doesn't work properly for passkey for Forms.overclockers anyway!

Tried Mint many times over the years, but I found their team to be lacking with serious help, that being said I think it is time to move Linux/Unix
However you wish to call it.

for these activities, it will be totally fine. many other spins will be also too.

You shouldn't have any problems there at all. I use LM for everything from browsing to gaming and haven't touched Windows outside of the office for about 8 years. There are other distros probably more suited to gaming now but I still rarely have any issues with Mint and it's just comfortable to use.

I’ve just finished installing Mint onto a 10 year old, 4Gb MacBook Pro which was pretty painless apart from the WiFi drivers and even then it wasn’t too awkward to add them. Some YouTube videos stuttered and generally didn’t play well but that was a stress test. The usual gamut of apps loaded snappily and run just fine. In short, I’ll reckon you’ll be fine

Back in my VM now and Linux keeps surprising me. I have been trying Pop! OS tonight and wahey, my windows are moving about automatically depending which one I'm using. It's magic. I've never seen anything like it before. Apparently, this is an example of a tiling manager. Now I have to get one installed in Windows, too.

Anybody know what might be causing this to happen ZorinOS
When I connect to a bluetooth speaker after adding a device it works great until I turn off the speaker/amp and try and reconnect. Or by turning off turning on the Bluetooth.
The bluetooth speaker connects to the input/microphone instead. Which leaves me having to remove the device and start again every time I want to use it.

Normal operation after speaker added, I see two output options as expected.

This is what happens after a reconnect it switches to the input. Also the output tab only shows 1 option when the drop down is clicked.

Solid choice. Personally, I tend to stick to Debian as I just need super basic. Mint would be my go to for more features.

A superb choice for your first Distro.

The Desktop Environment choice makes more difference in speed on low end machines than the actual Distro does. e.g. Mint Mate will be faster than Mint Cinnamon, but Cinnamon will look nicer and more modern.
