What do people use to organise and view their images on a mac? Do you pull them straight into iPhoto or is there something more professional I can use.

Thanks

On the mac there are quite a few options. Depends on how many images you process.
If youre just after something simple to use, iPhoto is great and free (comes with mac).

-Adobe Lightroom is one of the pro options, buts costs £200
-Aperture 2 is your other pro option but costs £115 (or just £55! if u can use the Higher Education discount)

(if youre a Nikon user theres also Capture NX 2, which handles Nikon RAW files better)

Either of these are good for post processing your photos, and useful if you have a dSLR and are processing RAW images. There are pros and cons of both Aperture and Lightroom, but they have trial versions so download them and try each of them out if u want.
Cant comment on either of them personally as Ive only just started using Aperture a little bit, but theres plenty of info on the web comparing the two programs .

Photoshop as it was made for it.

But as mentioned Lightroom, Aperture 2, iPhoto..i use all depending how i feel.

Thanks, wasn't aware of Aperture so going to give it a go. Am using gimp to edit currently as I formatted my mac with a case sensitive file system and so can't install any Adobe products (lazy developers) :/

Sounds limiting, why would you do that?

You'll find Aperture a good product if you can't use any Adobe products, it's more than capable.

I've recently moved over to Mac, and use Aperture 2/Photoshop. I much prefer Aperture to lightroom.

Its pretty cheap to

I use unix at work so am used to it, didn't realise Adobe products were so shoddily developed that it would cause this issue. Am getting on fine with Gimp and Aperture so far, cheers.
