What mail client do you use?

Hey guys,

I had a rather catastrophic encounter with a faulty nV driver yesterday, so I've had to do a total reformat! I'm taking this opportunity to change things about my system which I found annoying.

Previously I used Outlook 2007 for mail, but I found this horrendously slow and frequently crashed (is this normal?!). I'm thinking about switching mail clients to either Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail (I used Outlook Express on XP which I was very happy with).

My requirements are basically the ability to check 2 Hotmail accounts and 2 pop accounts, and to be quick! Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Suman

Outlook 2007 works pretty good for me when I use it, but I have not bothered on my latest install. Maybe try outlook 2003 if you have access to it.

Thunderbird is also pretty good, Mozilla have started releasing beta versions of Thunderbird 3 as well. I've used Windows Live Mail once and I did not like it at all. There's no harm in trying them on your system and uninstalling them, it's mainly down to personal preference in terms of the GUI and feature set.

I personally stick to Gmail's web based client, plus I have access to the calendar client too so I've not got to setup my gmail and gcal on different machines.

Tried Tbird - you're right Snakedoctor it sucks! Not sure why though, can't put my finger on it...

Using the noob Live Mail client now... it work, I like it.

Job done :D

Windows Live Mail, it works bar a few annoying bugs. Was previously using Thunderbird but it was just so useless at spam filtering.

Gmail platform independant, can be accessed anywhere with just a browser. And if you are really weird and still want to use a client at home. Well you can connect to it with whatever the hell you want to over IMAP instead of the ancient POP too :) Why wouldn't you use gmail, unless you're the tin foil brigade?

I used to use Outlook 2007, but it had way too many features for what I needed. So I switched to Windows Live Mail. Has all three mail accounts, contacts, newsgroups and RSS feeds in one place now. And it looks good with Vista.
