What makes an ADSL router a good one?

I think I'm in need of a new ADSL modem/router. What makes one model batter than another or is it just the more I pay the more I get?

Where do the so called 'business' level modem/routers sit in terms of value?

Although the equipment quality plays a part, I think a lot can be down to the modem firmware. Netgear units tend to work pretty well, and although I've been using Asus lately, the route to getting a stable connection has required a number of FW updates.

Also depending on what type of connection you have, the modems chipset can be important. Broadcom for example are better with the older ADSL+ lines.

My opinions ;-)
