I'm just wondering what makes you sleep well in general and to find out how strange my art of drifting off is compared with yours.

I for some reason find easier to sleep if i have something like the noise of a fan or a compressor of a refrigerator or even white noise is that strange ?

Not particularly strange, a continuous low level noise which doesn't change in any way can aid sleeping. Especially if you have tinitus :)

talksport on a low volume level

BBC World Service if I'm working nights or off, TalkSport if I'm working days.
The reason I wont have it on when I'm on nights is that the guy on about the time I come home, every now and then he says something absolutely hilarious and after a serious laughing fit, I cant get to sleep.

ME TOO!!!!!!!

Wow and I thought I was like the only one on the planet! All my friends and family like pin-drop silence to fall asleep! But silence keeps me awake.

I have a small desk fan that I keep on the floor, its pushed up against the door of my wooden cupboard so I get a deep gentle rumble in addition to the fan hum. Perfect!

Also [girlie mode] I love the sound of rain, so I have ripped a few cds of thunderstorms. Sounds weird but it's a terrific sound to fall asleep to. More effective than e.g. those white noise discs[/girlie mode].

Drinking a whole bottle of JD tends to work well, but nothing something I recommend on a school night. :D

Half a bottle of scotch usually does it. Failing that fap fap fap fap fap zzzzz.

Seriously though, a good run is the best thing I've found for a natural night's sleep. Or like Greenlizard0 says the sound of rain. "Werelaxto" did a great cd/mp3 of natural sounds, one of which was a 25 minute thunderstorm which is most awesome.

The sound of rain always makes a bed feel so cosy :D

normally i have pink floyd playing

Or if not then i put a DVD on, i can't fall asleep to programs that require me to pay attention to know whats going on though, best thing tends to be comedy DVDs (after i've watched them once or twice) as i know the jokes so won't laugh too much, and i just find it easy to close my eyes and listen to

ok may sound a bit gay but, i have recorded the ambient sound of my favourite camping spot, which includes trees swaying, a small stream bubbling past and a small fire burning away. I also listen to a bit of classical music.
