Just a quick question.

Just set up my PC again and whilst in the room its in the sound is fine, just your average PC fan noise, downstairs directly underneath it there is a really annoying noise.

The noise just resonates in a wwwuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRrrrrrr.............wwwwuuuUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRrrrrrrr.......... sound and seing as its directly above my sofa its a tad annoying

Putting it directly on the floor or on the shelf on my desk makes little difference so is there anything I can stand it on to help stop the vibration travelling through the floor?

TIA.

i used the self-adhesive felt pads that you're suppose to put on like the bottom of chairs/tables etc. does the trick nicely

Plenty of options for me to try, thanks :)

Are you sure its not your washing machine? or your Mrs?

Nah, the sound she makes is more like- whiiiiiiinge......whiiiiiiiiinge.....whiiiiiiiiiiiine......naaaaaaaaaaag ;)

I'm having the same issue with my server at the moment, (to the extent that next door were complaining). Have some blue tack to try a few things next weekend, (it's a older stacker case and I think its the 4-in-3 drive bays vibrating causing my issue).

Also check for loose floorboards as I know that was making my issue worse.

Had a look at my issue earlier this evening. Unfortunately scientific method went out the window so I'm not sure which of these fixed/reduced the problem but they are things you can try ...

1). Server is now sitting on 4-5 layers of small bubble bubble-wrap to act to isolate it from the surface its standing on.

2). I rechecked the internals of the case. I don't know about your case but with mine the devices in the bays are clipped in by sprung plastic retainers. These, it turns out, were not really holding things firmly and a few additional screws made things a lot tighter.

I suspect that the second of these things probably helped the most so I'd suggest checking your case internals for anything loose which could allow things to vibrate against each other.
