I was just wondering what was the best media player for playing video content.

I've finally got my pc connected to my tv thanks to a 10m hdmi cable. I was using xbmc before on my old xbox.

Videos look awesome on vlc. Is it the best program to use though or what about mpc-home theatre with ffdshow?

I'm finding the blacks a little too dark with vlc and maybe the image is a little too saturated.

Cheers
Andy

Ive become quite interested in using XBMC having seen the standalone 'live' version but what's the advantage of using the windows version over windows 7 media center?

I doubt there is much in it regards image quality but I like the way MPC-HC looks and behaves over the other players available so I stick with that.

I just use vlc for videos *edit connected pc to tv by 15m hdmi cable* well pc - av receaver = HD Movies with 5.1 :D

I use VLC for HD and DVD, MPCHC for most other formats and Media center for TV. Does XBMC play TV through your TV card?
