What is the make and model of your board?

The majority of older 775 boards used DDR2 so if the DDR3 didn't fit you will have to pay over the odd for DDR2.

Plus you will need to buy 4 x 2gb strip to make up the 8Gb

EDIT: e.g. you would probably be looking at 2 kits of this - link. £120 is a lot of money for 8Gb of memory you may be better off selling your old kit and buying a budget SB setup.

If you sell your old memory (DDR2 gets a good price), CPU (q6600 gets approx £50) and MB it will probably cost you the same amount to fully upgrade as buying 8Gb of DDR2.
