just wondering? iam looking towards getting 4gb of memory for the msi 890fx when it arrives... something tells me its 4 or 8gb only with am3 and you cant do 6gb?
i assume nothing has changed and the am3 can do dual-channel ddr upto 1333-1600mhz (1850mhz oc`d)

its not like it can do tri-channel now is it ?

Aye, go for 4GB (2x 2GB) or 8Gb (4 x 2GB or 2x4GB if you can afford it), as this will allow them to run in dual channel mode. Triple channel remains an Intel X58-only thing for the moment.

Any of the DDR3 dual channel kits on the OCUK store will do the job well. Personally, I would recommend this stuff.

With the 790FX chipset I tried various ram & didn't make any difference in gaming for fps.

I would just get some cheap 1333mhz @ 7-7-7-24 or similar.

I'd assume that's correct. On AMD systems the chipset has nothing to do with memory support, that's purely a CPU issue. Faster DDR3 support will probably come with the new Phenom II chips coming out in a couple of months.

i'm havin a whale of a time trying to keep DDR3-1600 ram working with an AMD965BE. Stick with 1333 for AMD especially if as above it makes nay difference for gaming etc.
