My sister has somehow managed to delete all the pics from the SD card taken from the Caso EX-500. Using PC inspector I have manage to recover all the jpg but none of the videos, I have tried, QT, avi to no avail. What other freeware file recovery program out there that allows me to recover all the files on the memory card?

I used the Sandisk software that came with my Extreme III - got back every shot I have ever put onto the SD card in question

all the ones in the faq, are costly, or only recover half of your files.
Anyone know any good completely free, handy ones.

I know not much is free these days..

I got an Extreme III CF card, no software thou !

If you got a boxed version you should have got a little tiny CD with it (along with a little bag for it and a few other bits and bobs..)

Am I reading that right?

So say for example it's a 1gb card, and you've filled it 20 times, it would recover the full 20gb of photos? Thats insanely good if true

That wouldn't be possible. If you fill it then delete the photos you will only be able to get back the last set of photos you had on it. Anything previously will have been overwritten. The ability to get very old photos back arises when the card is only ever filled up partially thus leaving some of the old data intact.

every time you write onto a flash card you write onto a new 'layer', overwriting the shots that are on the layer underneath. When you format a card all it does is adds an thin layer over everything.
Its possible to recover shots even after formatting a card...all the software does is peal back the last layer,

I have near-filled this 512Mb SD card many times with things other than photos (I dont really use the cam its usually in so I put the card in my iPaq etc) and when I lost my photos from the Swansea meet it got back photos I had taken when I first got the camera. It certainly *seemed* like every photo but I could be wrong. It was a few months ago after all ;)

Actually, i used it to recover files off a VIKING SD card, it works but somehow i can't play the video files.
