what memory to get for macbook upgrade.

wanting to upgrade my memory in my MacBook Mid 2010.

currently only have 2gb not sure what to get.

can it take 2 x 4gb?

help please

crucial memory checker says : Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 (non-ECC).

if i were to buy this will it just run at the 8500?

went to my local shop today to get the memory. i saw corsair macmemory for only a couple £ more than the crucial stuff claiming mac compatible with macbook, macbook pro and imac. so i thought i will get that as it is 'guaranteed' to work.

2 x 4gb sticks same specs as the crucial but already tried and tested with mac.

installed it and i get a single beep upon boot meaning memory problem.

tried all combinations but i still get the same response.

put my old in and it works fine.

looks like i shall be taking it back tomorrow!

took it back and got it swapped for exact same but with slightly looser timings and it works
