What memory to get?

Hello, overclockers members, I just have a small question for you all. I have a AMD 965 processor and a motherboard that supports 16GB of RAM, However I'm looking to upgrade the RAM and bump it up to 8GB. Not sure if I should but you can help me decide that. This build will be used to play games like "Batman arkham city", "Guild wars 2", and "Dirt 3". I will also run some intensive applications such as Autodesk 3D Maya+Max. So my small request is that which RAM to buy and how many of it. What is the different between 1600 and 1333, I want to know which is better for the the events that I want to carry out.

Thanks. Really appreciate the comments and suggestions.

Tbh there really isn't much difference between 1333 and 1600. I run 1333mhz (4GB) and my system is really fast with my overclock Athlon X4 640 @ 3.4ghz.

You may get an extra frame or so in game if you choose the 1600mhz. Most people get 1600mhz because it is so cheap and the higher clock on the memory does help with some overclocks on the CPU.

I wouldn't bother getting 16GB memory, even though your board supports it. 4GB is enough for gaming, but for photo/video editing and converting file types, 8GB will make it a lot faster.

If you are running intensive programs like AutoDesk then I would go for the 8GB kit. The extra RAM is there if you need it and 8GB is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cheap these days, you may as well.

I would recommend either:

Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB 1333mhz £44.99

Corsair Vengence Blue 8GB 1600mhz £39.98

As you see, the slightly faster memory is cheaper. So might as well get the 1600mhz kit as it is cheap as chips and Corsair Vengence memory is awesome and loves to be overclocked!

Get the 1600mhz just because you can xD
