So I want to replace my GA-Z68A-D3-B3 with something that has better UEFI support, I'm currently using the beta bios and it's fine but effects my overclock as can't access some of the voltage settings.

- Must have true native UEFI support (for Win8 Fast boot)
- Must be a good clocker (main reason for upgrade!)
- SLI support
- Prefer MicroATX

I'm open to any suggestions, just want to be able to push my i2500k again as used to run this at 5.1Ghz but can't get past 4.6ghz, when it actually saves the settings!

you could either go gigabyte again and choose a z77 d3h or ud3h board

or stay z68 and go for an asus v pro,or even an asus z77 board

been upto 4.8ghz with a 2600k on asus v pro so far

I'm a little bit wary of Gigabytes UEFI support atm, I mean it was with my current mobo that I got my 2500k up to 5ghz+ but they've crippled the bios with the UEFI update.

Yeah, I've also gone back to the AWARD myself but really did miss the fast boot. I'm a sucker for micro optimisations ;)

I've been keeping my eye on it, but doesn't help when still unsure what board to go for, really been put off Gigabyte with this UEFI troubles.

What sort of budget you working with? I have the z77 sabertooth. Beautiful board! Heard it's decentn for overclocking.

No budget, but has to be worth its cost. For example this PC is just my gaming machine so I don't need all the usual extras, which is likely why i'm finding it hard to choose one.

z77 sabertooth would be overkill, its more form over function.

I may have to leave it until prices drop more before I can justify the upgrade.

Managed to grab a Asus-P8Z77-V-Deluxe for £37 on ebay, it's from a insurance job-lot but seems to be in good nick. No extras, just the board itself but could be a steal if working.

Big if though!

Ahh Goodluck, you'll have to post back how it goes ect

If its missing the i/o panel you can get those too off fleabay

Well after a nightmare install (board was constantly shorting) i've managed to give it a good test and it seems to be fine, i've not had a chance to clock it yet and see how that goes but looks to be fine.

So very happy at getting this for £37, just need to find backplate and maybe the Wifi GO for it now.

So looks like the shorting may actually be the 8-pin ATX connector, can't test if its PSU or Mobo thats causing problem as only have the one on me at the moment.

Currently every time I stick everything back in the case it'll stop booting, but then when I pull it all back out and stick it on my desk its fine.

Currently got it running my i2500k @ 5ghz stable which is a nice jump, not tweak volts yet but looks promising.

Only real negatives for now are that the UEFI Fast boot is slower than my old board, but think this is because the Gigabyte had "Ultra Fast boot" option and the ASUS doesn't. Also 4K writes and overall SATA performance seems to be slightly worse on this.

Argh! So much for stable, I thought the problem was with the 8-Pin but then it looked to be the 24-Pin that needed "fiddling" with to boot, then after some more tests and rebuilding in the case plus a "fiddle" I got the board booting and running Intel Burn test fine.

*Big smug face*

Until I launched CS:GO and watched it BSOD within 2mins, so had another fiddle booted up and started seeing BSOD on the desktop, reset the BIOs and now the board won't boot at all just gives a 55 error on the LED which is "memory not install".

Seems like the board is certainly dead and will try an RMA however I hope i've not killed anything from my machine while testing this...
