What Mobo?

Hi,

Can you spec or suggest a Mobo, i5 or i7 cpu & Ram suitable for upgrading my system. It's for office and heavy graphics work where several progs are required at a time. Price isn't too important but speed is, thanks.

You need to go X99.

If you have an aftermarket heatsink check it supports Socket2011.

What programs are you using for graphics work? If it's the system in your Sig then I'd overclock it first as an extra 1000Mhz on each core will make a difference (2500k usually go to ~4.5Ghz with minimal effort, even on P67)
If you still need more speed than that then you should go Intel 6 core. 5820k is a good chip for the money.

Thanks guys. I am upgrading because my system has become unstable, locking up, progs not responding and such like.

No I haven't. I updated to win 10 because these problems had started but they are just getting worse. I did try to go back to 7 but it wouldn't let me :-(

Do you think its worth re-installing windows 7 from scratch?

Definitely. Nothing like a fresh install. Just back up the program data you can like your browser bookmarks etc.

I would not advise that. Either do clean install of Win7 or Win 10 if you like life on the edge. I have all 3 OS's on various machines.

Well I had stability problems on my fresh win10 install. It would freeze at least once per day but quite sporadically. Maybe on average perhaps 2-3 times per day. Nothing whatsoever in the event log.
