What modem and router would you suggest?

Hi all,

My gaming PC is up stairs along with my Virgin router (350m/bit connection). My PC is hardwired up to my router and the rest of the gear in the house is wireless. Things added to my wireless setup are 2 x mobile phones, Ipad, Av amp, LG smart TV, DVD/Blueray, Nest heating, Alexa Show.

I do have a TP-Link AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender RE650 plugged in down stairs right next to the AV rack (TV, DVD, AV Amp). This could possibly become redundant..?

I am gamer and one of the main reason for this thread is wanting the best outcome for adding a Nvidia Shield to my TV downstairs.

So my first question... If I want to turn my virgin router into modem mode, what router would you suggest I go for? Not looking for the cheapest, don't mind spending sensible money on a unit but do want quality and features... needs to be easy to setup as well! ;)

Second question, If I want to hardwire the TV, DVD, AV Amp and soon to be purchased Nvidia Shield, would you recommend a switcher downstairs to plug everything into?

Many thanks. :)

You don't need to add a router to get wired connections downstairs.

You just need Ethernet cables (Cat5e or Cat6) and any unmanaged Gigabit switch that has enough ports.

OK I understand about not needing all the management features. Probably be wasted on me anyway. I want something easy to handle. :)
