Hey everyone, I currently own a Asus RoG Swift 1440P G-Sync monitor and i'm thinking about getting a second monitor for other games that aren't competitive.

So i won't need things like 1MS for lightning fast response etc.

I've been looking at some 21:9 Aspect ratio monitors and they look pretty awesome, I've never used IPS and I've heard only good things about them.

I'm really happy with the colours that the RoG swift has to offer so is IPS really that much better?

After Xmas i'll be upgrading to a 980ti as i currently own a 780.

I defiantly want 21.9 aspect ratio because of screenshots I've seen it makes games look really cinematic.

Question is what monitor should i get?

Thanks!

IPS is honestly so much better than anything TN paneled, if you value colour reproduction and viewing angles in any way at all :) You won't honestly want to go back to TN after having one - I guess, by the sounds of things, the same can be said for stepping up to higher refresh rates with g-sync? I'm still at 60hz so I can't relate but I've heard its the same!

Edit: Sorry for not fully answering the question - as for monitors, if you're looking for IPS and G-sync, I think the X34 is the only ultrawide that supports it all :)

IPS while having nicer colors (its not huge unless its a professional panel like Dell etc) they are far more susceptible to backlight bleed and IPS glow which will be fine for any games that arnt dark.

Im using the same ROG swift, I've tried the new IPS pg279q but poor Asus QC means I've returned it twice. I'm actually sticking with my current TN swift as yes the IPS is nice. But the backlight bleed in comparison is horrid and ruins my experience.

In a whole IPS isn't a huge leap like 4k or 144hz vs 60hz. Its more for color work and in games isn't massively noticeable.

4ms vs 1ms is also in noticeable. I'd say get a 21:9 monitor personally.

I am interested in this too, every monitor in this price range (with G Sync) seems to have bad bleed, and it blows my mind.
