prob good start...need to get a monitor for my son for xmas..not sure whether to go ultrawide myself. IPS or VA...if you play in dark, prob go VA, bright room IPS. If going to use for work as well, then flat, which means ips too..curved it'll prob be VA. My son wants min 144hz..going 165/170 as can get under £300 now..Asus doing a 27" and 32" here reduced for xmas for £258...guessing will be fairly similar to gigabyte..

@Jack Gunn ive just upgraded to a HP X34 which is a 3440x1440 Ultrawide with 165hz its slightly above you budget atm but defo worth it even you have a half decent gpu to power it got mine for 270 in black Friday sales but its going for around 320 atm.
