What monitor to choose?

Having a bit of trouble deciding on the right 23" monitor.

The monitor will be used for gaming, and maybe some light video/photo work in the future. (Hence the necessity for an IPS Panel). Basically, what I want to know is which monitor has the best panel (no backlight bleed, no ghosting, good colours, etc). I'm not worried about VESA mounts or how good the speakers are as I game with headphones, just the panel. The general aesthetics are not really that important, but it'a always a bonus to have slim bezels.

The choices are:

Asus PB238Q
Asus VX239H
Dell U2312HM

Obviously I'm open to other suggestions, but ideally not looking to spend much more than £180.

With you on that one, it’s a nightmare, at least you know more what you are wanting. I’m wanting to play games like Dayz Standalone and Elite Dangerous on a new rig next year but my currant monitor I kid you not take 2-3 hours before it works and stops flashing on and off with my old rig.

I thinking about the Asus 27” screen IPS.

Good luck in your hunt!

You too!

I'm currently swaying towards the PB238Q (the reviews say it's good). Also you can supposedly overclock it to 75Hz which is a bit of a bonus if I can bring myself to give it a go :p

I feel like the only way to resolve this is with the flip of a coin :D

I bought the U2312HM recently but it's going back due to having a yellow tint on the bottom right (Revision A00). I'm still considering my options and I've narrowed mine down to the Asus PB238Q and the Dell P2314H/P2414H. Dell should be releasing the U2414H soon but that may be more expensive.

Review for the P2414H is here if you want to consider it http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_p2414h.htm

I've been hoping OCUK would get the p2414h in stock as i'd like to buy it, might have to go elsewhere though as it's been available elsewhere for a few months now and no sign on the site here :(

crazy8: Any word on what differences there will be between the p2414h and the u2414h?

Sorry to highjack but has anyone here gone down from a 27" monitor to a 24"? I'm actually thinking of 'downgrading' as this 27" Iiyama beast takes up so much room on my desk and getting x2 24" screens.

From slashgear
The UltraSharp 24 monitor has the world's thinnest monitor border at 6.05 mm. That thin bezel is only available on the top of the monitor.

The display can rotate 90° clockwise placing the thin top bezel side-by-side and multiple monitor setups. The monitor supports 16.77 million colors allowing it to cover 96% of the sRGB color gamut. It has viewing angles of 178° and a native resolution of 1920 x 1080

From flatpanelshd
According to the source, U2414H will offer HDMI (with MHL), DisplayPort, DisplayPort mini, and four USB 3.0 ports. It will also offer height, swivel, pivot and tilt adjustments, from a new silver-colored stand.

So the U2414H will have a better colour gamut, a thinner top bezel, HDMI, no DVI and USB 3.0 ports but I imagine it will cost more.
