What monitor to get?

Hi all, I am looking at getting a monitor to add to my gaming laptop. I have a budget up to £300, what's out there atm that's worth getting?

I may look at building a PC again when I get chance in the future so will be used for that also.

2560x1440 144Hz VAs start from £260.

And IPS monitors from £300.

VAs has the way best contrast of LCDs giving best looking black for darker room.
But in response times it has "challenges" and IPS beats it for normally illuminated room.
