I have a Radeon 4890 1GB. Theres the basis of what im buying. I was wandering is there any difference between a D-Sub input or a DVI. Im on a fairly small budget and D-Sub seem to be cheaper. Im looking for around 22" ;) Thanks. :D

Hi there.

Do you have a budget in mind? Also, what you plan to do with the monitor, will it mostly be for gaming?

As for DVI vs VGA (Dsub), DVI is better quality but there isn't a lot in it tbh. However, any 22in+ monitor worth its salt will come with a digital input like DVI or HDMI, so it shouldn't be a big issue.

£130-140 inc P+P is pretty much the max im looking at. But cheaper is better. It doesn't have to last more then 3 year so quality doesn't have to be top but would be nice.

I'm not sure I can give you a list of brands to avoid - it would probably be a long list.

But generally it is worth assessing each individual monitor on its own merits, some individual monitor models from respected names like Dell and Samsung have had their problems.

That particular BenQ I linked to is well regarded and has some good reviews ([1] [2] [3])

I would also suggest you consider the B2230H (which we proudly made this months 'monitor of the month' on our website). This recommendation was followed through by a member of this forum and he's very happy with it. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18189666 Personally I see it as unbeatable in terms of build quality and image quality for the price. I'm sure you'd be happy with the BenQ already mentioned too and it's great value.

I think they're the same but the B2230N only offers VGA and a 21.5" viewable area whereas the B2230H offers DVI, HDMI and a 22" viewable area. The B2230W however offers DVI and VGA (confusing, I know) and a a 22" viewable area. Would recommend the B2230W on OcUK.

Ha, bit of a cheek giving a 21.5" monitor the B22xx code - but ah well. Yea, the B2230H certainly seems the superior to this one, though i'm sure the B2230N is still nice.

As for the B2230W, the only "problem" I see is the 1680x1050 resolution. However, tbh I find this resolution fits this screen size rather well, since text is a bit bigger than on a 22" 1080p and games run at a higher framerate than on a 1080p model and still look great.

Yeah the model numbers really are cheeky sometimes. They do the same with the 24 inch ones by making some of the screens 23.6" instead of 24".
