ok im thinking of upgrading my computer and have got a basic idea of what i want.
I want the motherboard to be able to/have:
  • Support for the latest processors
  • Support 8GB of ram for the future.
  • not do duel graphics (don't want SLI or Crossfire)
  • Be able to overclock pretty well.
  • little bit future proof.
  • Spare slots for sound card and wireless card.

I hope i have covered everything.

oh yes, i was thinking that i forgot something.
is it worth getting one with a PCI-E 2.0 slot?
If so can you name some?

thanks for the help so far guys.:)

the Asus P5E is a decent board but any X38 board I would recommend. if your budget doesnt go that far P35 board would also do but the P35 dont use PCI-E 2.0

Also as far as I know the extra bandwidth provided by pci-e2.0 is not needed at the moment

Wasn't part of his original needs

i was wondering though. But i read that the cards will work in PCI Express.
If there are any boards that are 2.0 around the under £150 range post em.

I have been looking and haven't found any boards with only 1 PCI-E 2.0 slot.(wont use the extra one, and i want to save money)

I have been looking at the board and there is little to no difference between the prices of this one and the DDR2 one.
One big deal breaker, does this support DDR2 8GB?

by looking at it i don't think it does.

Scrap all that, it only has DDR3 slots even though the chipset supports DDR2
