Hi all!

Speccing a new system today and was looking for some advice/opinions as to which mobo to buy!

Looking at getting the following:

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 £135.11

Noctua NC-U6 Dual Heatpipe Northbridge Cooler £16.44

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775) 31.71

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £129.24

Ideally I want a motherboard that will allow me to get the maximum overclock..

I was looking at either the

EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (122-CK-NF68-A1)

or

Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

The only thing that gives me pause about going for a P35 chipset is the lack of SLI, I do game @ 1920x1200 with an 8800 GTX. However I don't forsee a need to get another one for a good 6 months at least.

If anyone has any thoughts/suggestions or anything else I should consider I would be grateful!

Thanks,

Rob.

I would change a few things their to be honest, something like this would be good:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)

Total : £405.62

Their you go, get a nice Quad Core in their too. Should reach 3GHZ with little problems.

You dont need 8500 Memory to be honest, bit of a overkill especially when something like the Crucial Ballistix will hit them speeds.

Right SLI is a waste at this point in time, unless your gaming on a 30inch+ screen, the performance you get out of SLI dosent really justify the cost of buying that second card.

And Welcome To The Forums. :)

I don't need a quad core as all I do is game pretty much.

Anyone know when the X38 will be out?
