What mp3 player do you have?

Sony NWZ-S639F

Great audio quality, has enough power to drive 'respectable' cans and a 40 hour battery life to boot.

Iphone gets little use as an mp3 player, more my shuffle for when I go running.

And not buying apple because you try and stay away from anything apple is not really a reason.

There are however much better devices out there.

iPod 5G 30GB (white), which I've had since April 2006, although I got a replacement in December 2006. It's held up pretty good, but I could do with more storage now.

I've only used an iPod. I don't think they're too expensive, especially if you buy a used one. I've seen quite a few iPods for sale in MM, and at reasonable prices.

don't see a point in a separate mp3 player.. when the phone does all i need.. even tho its a bit laggy with big albums.

Ah the "zomg Apple r teh suck" argument for not buying an iPod.

I dont think thats very fair, its just a preference of mine, im sure you dont buy certain brands of food/drink/electronic equipment aswell, i dont shout out saying that theyre rubbish etc

I have an iPhone but don't use it for music very much.

Also have an old Cowon M5L 20Gb but its a bit old and buggy now, haven't used it in over a year.

I dont want an ipod purely because i just try and stay away from anything apple.
Ipods are pretty much as good as it gets without spending mega money, you could always get over your fanboyism or whatever silly problem you have with apple and just get an ipod.

I use my iphone since my ipod broke (after 3 years of faithful service, every day for at least a couple of hours, scratched and chipped to hell), it's still no good having this tiny amount of storage, i can only fit 30 odd gb of music on there. For me thats nothing, I have best part of 600gb of music on my pc.
Debating getting a new ipod even though I cannot afford it, fed up of music craving and not having it.

Battery life. Weight. Space. Robustness.

Take your pick.

battery life - not a problem.. lasts the whole day at college/day out - 8-12hrs...

weight - really.. 30+- G doesn't change anything.. having 2 devices one weighting 100g the other 60g is heavier overall.

Space - phones a tiny these days.. fit easy in he pocket.. again having 2 devices would be more of a problem.

Robustness - Most phones do the job no problem.. i agree the nokia i own at the moment is a bit "sluggish"

I bought this just on the basis of sound quality as at the end of the day, that should be the only thing that matters when listening to music.

Anyways, this is a little gem. Best mp3 i could imagine. I think only Cowan challenges iRiver when it comes to mp3 sound quality.

... this is matched up with a pair of Shure E4C's.

Creative Zen X-Fi 2 16gb, upgraded when my old Zen 120gb conked out. I got the X-Fi 2 when they were first released - the original firmware was rubbish but the updated one is much better. Sound quality is excellent and can drive a good pair of studio-quality headphones.

Feature set maybe but in terms of audio quality ipods are from as good as it gets for their price, A budged Sansa will wipe the floor with any Ipod for sound quality imo, I've had a lot of experience with mp3 players (including iPods), been using them since the creative nomad,
