Hello all, normally i know whats good and whats not in mp3 players, but ive stopped looking at reviews for past few months.

Im in need of a new mp3 player and have been thinking about the new Nano or something alike.

Need 2GB absolute minimum and budget is around £150ish.

Any ideas?

I bought a the new 8GB Nano and sold it again on fleabay. Found Sound quality lacking on instrumental tracks. Got 30GB iPod and happy again. £20 more than your budget but worth it.

Yeah, dont think i can really push my budget, although if it is indeed definately worth it i could. Is it light compared to most mp3 players out?

I'm once again in a similar situation to you after just selling a Nano I bought. I really couldn't stand using it and after I dropped it in a puddle I thought my luck had really run out but I have to say Apple's customer service is excellent and after recieving a new Nano, which I promply sold, I'm most probably going to get a Sandisc Sansa e260.

4gb for £99 with a microSD slot and plays video. Nothing special although drag and drop and file tree navigation have me sold.

Pay another £30 and get the zen vision:m, you wont regret it. I got a Iriver H10 5GB and filled it then bought a ZVM. Spend the extra now, it saves you in the long run.

Standard iPod is at least five times heavier than the Nano. But I personally pref it cause its easier to handle. Larger Clickwheel is easier to use. If youre travelling a lot on Trains/Buses then Nano is easy to carry around use mine mostly in my Car.

The new Black 30Gb iPod looks damm sexy as well. Its one of those gadgets that have a feelgood factor attached to them. I didnt buy for the looks ofcourse its got a great interface and good sound quality as well.

Id say spend the extra £20 you wont regret it.

Well im just wanting as much music on mymp3 player as i can for the money.

If i can, i would like it to be as light as possible; but the new iPod seems the way to go?

Are the newer generation iPods lighter than the older ones? (we have one..3G...i think)

To the Zen Vision:M's are they decent compared to the daddy ipods? :)

Better. More features, they play AVI, MPEG and divX for movies, it doesnt use iunes and allows you to use drag and drop. THe player is customisable, you can set your own wallpapers etc and IMO the sound quality is superior to that of the ipod.

iPod you can drag and drop (with software i have).

I doubt i will use videos.. only audio.

Is it heavier than the iPods or anything like that. Sizewise?

New 5G are much slimmer than the older generation. Picture http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?i...?q=5g+ipod+&svnum=100&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&sa=G

Ah yeah :)

If it was you;

iPod Nano 2GB-8GB or 30GB Zen Vision:M or iPod 30GB?

Adam
I havent used a Zen myself but Im a big fan of Creative products. Most people in this forum have good things to say about them. Zen should be v good as well both v similar.

iPods have tons of accessories you can buy and good second hand value as well. Click wheel is a big advantage compared to other MP3 Players out there. Only negative is that it marks v easily. But overall Im v happy with my purchase :)

Nano definatly has a size advantage and its fine if youre listening to Vocal/Dance kind of Music also its more robust no Hard Drive dying on you after a year. But the current firmware is buggy.

Id choose between the iPod or Zen:M - Dont think you can go wrong with either.

The sanDisk is worse than the Nano mate!

Why's that then? I'd like to know before I buy one. I've heard of a few small bugs thatcan be fixed with a firmware update but overall seems a lot better than the nano imo.
