I got my iPhone 14 Pro last week, the kit to return my old XR in a trade in should arrive this week. What do I need to do before I wipe it that i can recover?

I have of course signed into new phone with Apple ID.
I just did the Google Authenticator transfer, MS Authenticator transfer too.

Are there anything that is on the phone that wouldn't be backed up to iCloud, if iCloud back up is turned on? Like inside MS Authenticator there is another slider to backup to icloud?

Thanks

Backup with itunes then restore to new phone?....but if you have everything on your new phone then.....
Sign out of the phone and reset everything. Done.

I think you have misunderstood me.

Not about how to back up the phone, it's already backed up to iCloud. Or how to reset the phone. But rather are there any apps that behaves like Microsoft Authenticator where the data doesn't transfer to normal iCloud back up even when iCloud back up is turned on. And has it's own backup slider within the app itself.

Do you have your forum backup codes, just in case there are problems with the authenticator?

Is it a new number or the same number?

Nobody here knows what apps you have installed so nobody can really tell you what apps might not transfer.

Also did you set the phone up by doing a transfer apps included or set it up as brand new?

I moved the SIM card across and did the scan code thing on screen and copied everything across from the old phone (not download from iCloud).

As for what apps, good point, but more thinking of what experiences you have in the apps that you have encountered like the Authenticator apps where they don’t get back up and need old phone to transfer, even after the phone is restored from back up.

Sorry Feek, i missed this.

I have no idea about the backup codes but I use the email code authenticator method, which seems to work.

Start saving backup codes somewhere. I save my backup codes in two online providers. One been OneDrive and the other in Mega.NZ as txt files.

Both of these providers have 2FA turned on so to get into these accounts you need my phone.

The easiest way and quickest way is to transfer from phone to phone.

Once it’s complete. Swap the SIM card (or eSim). Then let thing download all the apps.

Start opening up all the apps as they finish downloading. Things like authenticator can then be opened then transferred over via QR code - just go settings export accounts.

You can also then allow you new phone to be the new main device with say gmail as it’ll pop up on your old one ‘new device‘ found, allow it then remove your old one.

Banking apps are usually just a PITA to install but don’t require the old device to simplify things.
