what native res monitor should i get for this setup

Hi, i have the following setup and im not sure what monitor to get with it.

AMD Phenom II x 4 955 Black Edition overclocked to 3.8ghz
4GB DDR3 Ram
ATI Radeon 4890 1gb

I was going to get a samsung 24" monitor with a native res of 1900x1200 however someone told me that i might not be able to run games like crysis/arma2 on very high settings at a resolution 1900x1200 with my setup. He said that i should maybe look to get a monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050 as it's always best to run games at the monitors native resolution. He also said playing games at lower resolutions on a monitor with a native res of 1900x1200 will look worse than running a game on a monitor with a native res of 1680x1050... is this true ?

He said he's not 100% sure though and he's not exactly a computer genius either so i thought id post here and see what people think.

Iv got about a £200 budget for a monitor. Based on my setup and the games i mentioned should i go with a 1900x1200 screen or get one with a lower resolution ?

Any advice is welcome !

Id recomend get the 24" 1920x1200, there arent many games that are going to tax a 4890 at that res, crysis being the exception, and in future when there are more games you can always add a 2nd gfx card in xfire if needs be

I'd agree with 24" because it will be very cheap to add a second 4890 in about a year or 18 months when it starts to need it. Not too sure about the native resolution issue myself.

He is right, if you don't use the native res, the immage won't be as sharp as is should be. Some people are fine with this, but I don't like it.

If you have a LCD screen you can see what it's like just by lowering your res.

your setup should be fine with a 1920 x 1200 screen, and if it is to slow on certain games, it's better to lower the quality and effects settings, rather than the res.
