hey guys

I need to find a new network for my wife and I. We are currently on O2 PAYG.

While I've found O2's customer service to be generally good, I've found their network service to be sub-par on all fronts - Call quality, Drop Outs, Coverage and Data Speed.

I've been considering switch to EE as they currently have a package which is offering unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 4GB of data for 19.99 a month (usually 22.99) on Sim-only.

I wanted to know if there's anything I should be aware of? I've been reading up on EE and it seems like some people say the company is a nightmare on customer services, billing, etc. But then there seems to be customers saying that about every network. So confused.

EE is the best overall network for 4G coverage but you might want to try some PAYG sims to see what is best for you.

Well I have tried Vodafone and they were rubbish in all respects so they are a definite no.

O2 as I said, we've had good customer service but generally poor quality of service and their packages are not as competitive as others.

That really leaves EE or Three or the sub-networks like GiffGaff / Tesco etc.

Mainly I'm trying to find out if the horror stories I've been reading about EE are really true and widespread, before the offer runs out.

If you find O2's coverage poor, don't bother with giffgaff or Tesco, as they are based on O2's network.

I would get an EE and 3 SIM and check which network offers the best coverage and speed in your area. Virgin is also another option which uses the EE network if you find EE's packages too expensive.

Interesting, I had no idea about Virgin. Is there any known drawbacks to signing up with them? Is unlimited data really unlimited? I've heard EE claim their data is unlimited but there's a huge caveat of file types that aren't included in that and people get charged for sending pictures via whatsapp etc

I'm on EE, I haven't had any problems with customer service you only tend to hear the horror stories anyway.

I do wish I went with Three, personally i would snap up one of the unlimited data sim only deals with Three before they change it

I had some issues with T-Mob/EE and cancelled but they called me back with a good deal on a 4G plan. So far coverage and speeds are good but it's early days.
