What new card for Vista to get surround sound ?

Hi,

I currently have an Audigy 2ZS + Inspire 7.1 speakers. I know very little about soundcards really having always used creative cards since my first 486 pc.

Anyway, I've read that there are problem with the creative cards and Vista, resulting in no surround sound. Apparantly creative have released a beta fix of some kind but it only works with the later Xfi cards.

I suppose my question is that if this is true, what card would be the best card to get other than a creative one that would allow me to enjoy 7.1 surround sound in games, music and movies that I play using Vista ? Ideally I would like to keep my existing speakers although I don't know if the creative ones work on other cards.

Sorry if this is a bit of a noob question, I really don't know much about soundcards or speakers, I just enjoy surround sound and would hate to go back to stereo sound.

for surround sound u want the razer one or the azuntech x meridian. u need a 5.1 encoder tho my z-5500 has one.

be more worried about drivers for vista so hold back and wait for a motnh or 2 and observe

for 7.1 im not really sure id say the xi-fi will get drivers sorted very soon

I have an Audigy 4 Pro sound card, I am using the beta drivers with my Vista. Everything is working fine and I can hear music very well with my Z-5500 speakers
