hi lads i have a decent rig q6600 at 3 gig 4 gig ram asus x 48 rog board and 2 3870 in x fire. corsair hx 620 power supply

cards getting old i have 2 screens 32 inch led tv at 1080p and a 22 inch at 1680 as 2nd

the x fire cards run most stuff fine if its full screen but x fire in windowed only runs 1 card i play a lot of games full screen wiondowed so i can browse and do other stuff in 2nd monitor so im looking for a single card solution.

buget wise im not rolling in it but id like to be able to play dx 11 stuff at a decent framerate.

6950 or gtx 560 what r your thoughts anyting better that not gonna be a waste on my rig. looking to buy end on month

You have an almost identical rig to mine. I just bought a 6870 which IMO is all I felt I required for 1920x1080 (plus I have a second at 1680x1050 for chat, Ventrilo, monitoring in-game etc), but the 6950 flashed to 6970 is the way to go if u can justify the usage m8 :)

If you are buying at the end of the month, then I wouldn't pick a horse yet and wait for the GTX 560 release and reviews (sounds like it will be out before the end of the month). Once you see the reviews, you will be in a good position to chose your next card.

Is there any word on a realese date for the 560 or even a price point. also poster above do u feel the 6870 is ample for gaming a our rez.

Looking at this it seems like it may be out on the 25th (obviously take this with a pinch of salt - but it really does look like it will be out this month) and perform around the level of the HD 6950. Though we will we have to wait for the in-depth reviews (on release day) from sites like Anandtech to get the full picture of how it performs in a range of modern games.

As for the HD 6870 - its a decent card and performs well, but if I was going to drop that sort of money I would go for the 6950. Its a faster card at stock and it looks like each card has a very high chance of unlocking to a full 6970 with a BIOS flash.
