What next after a 3060ti?

Hey team.

I have a pretty good/average rig (i7, 32GB, plenty of storage) and I'm getting decent results with my 3060ti on my 65" telly and through my older Samsung Odyssey+ HMD vr headset.

Now that FS2024 and AC Evo are on the cards I'm in the mood to upgrade my visuals.

Should I drop a better GPU in (budget around £600 and no real alliance to Nvidia or AMD), or should I buy a better headset?

I feel like I'm maxing out the 3060 in Cyberpunk and newer games, but most of my gaming library is around 5 years old.

Many thanks gang.

Cleggy.

What are the exact specifications of your computer, including your power supply?

Saying you have an i7 isn't really helpful given there's i7's dating back to 2008.

That's a good point, thanks Gray (my last build was indeed an i7 920 :) )

This one is 12th gen i7 12700, PSU is a decent Corsair up to about 850W I think. 32GB DDR4 wunning XMP II. 1TB Samsung EVO nvME and 4TB Samgung Evo SSD SATA. Mobo is the ASUS TUF GAMING B660-PLUS WIFI D4, though I'm hardwired into my router.

Thanks budy, appreciated.

Still a decent setup.

At that price point you'd be looking at either a 7900XT or 4070ti Super, which is around what I'd recommend coming from a 3060ti for performance uplift.

That said, the 5000 series is due to launch shortly and we should have info on what to expect, whether or not they'll be available at decent prices is another question. As for the AMD 7900XT, I've no idea how well AMD works in VR compared to Nvidia.

I'd agree wth the others on the choice being between a 7900XT or a 4070 TI-S. I'd suggest you choose based on what titles you want to see improvements in. A lot of tests and reviews have shown equal performance in rasterized titles, but Ray Tracing is unfortunately still dominated by Nvidia, so if you intend to play games such as Cyberpunk at high settings, I'd recommend the 4070TI-S, I'm personally saving for one now. I would also recommend holding off until the 50 series cards are launched and available, as you may see a price decrease on the 40 series cards, although with the rumors of higher prices, I wouldn't count on it.
