What next from AMD/Intel?

It's that time again, Christmas is looming and the urge to treat oneself to something new and shiny (again *spanks his hand that bought the 2407, the Sennheisers and the Wii*) is strong. Alas, I'm considering waiting until Vista hits us properly (around 30th Jan iirc?) until speccing out an upgrade, I assume around this time the big guns will dish out some beefy hardware to take advantage of this.

I know ATI are releasing the R600 around then, but does anyone know if AMD/Intel are planning on releasing anything new and tasty that's worth waiting for around that time?

Hmmm all current dual-core processors and nearly every DX9 graphics card works just fine with Vista, so there's not really anything new or fantastic you need for Vista.

Not really related to vista but

AMD plan to release their am2 65nm chips - nothing *too* special i suspect
Intel - Quad core (lower end ones) will *probably* (im assuming / guessing here) will become availble - but looking over the nets - and their roadmaps i dont belive there is much interseting coming
