Been having a quick play around with a Q6600. Now Ive not had a desktop for years, been using laptops so my last experiance of a desktop was running AMD of which Im pretty sure was an A64 3500+ !
So Ive knocked together a cheap intel based machine to have a play around with with these specs.
Q6600 G0
Corsair H50
Asus P5Q
2x2 Kingston PC 8500 HyperX
nVidia 8800 640 GTS
Antec 1200
Antec 850w PSU
Having no idea about overclocking anymore, and even less with Intel I've bodged up the FSB to 333 and tweaked the voltage a little to get it stable, just been running prime95 for the last 3 hours.

Ive no idea whether the temps / voltage is exceptable or something to worry about but Im sure there is plenty more I can get out of the chip. At idle, its running at 40 as I type this and at 54/55 after 3 hours of prime.
I guess Im asking advice on what my next step should be.
