Hi,

I've had a Canon PowerShot S5 IS for many years and have been thoroughly impressed with it. The camera still works fine but I feel it's just getting a little old and I want some extra ability, mainly more pixels and more zoom.

Unfortunately the other features that I have come to love on the S5 seem to be getting lost in the newer cameras.

Do any of you know a bridge camera that has the following;
1. Swivel screen
2. AA batteries
3. Lots of pixels, 14+
4. Lots of zoom, 25+
5. Lots of settings to fiddle with :-)
6. A decent rating/reviews

The Fujifilm FinePix HS20EXR comes very close to what I would like. If only the screen flipped all the way round, I loved the idea on the S5 that I could tuck the screen away so when I threw it in my pack it would have some sort of protection. And the ability to spin it all the way round for self shots was handy.

Thanks in advance
Ryan

What about the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS.

Camera Price Buster has it listed for £293

Seems to tick most of your demands.

1. Swivelling screen - yes
2. AA Battery - no - uses the NB-10L rechargable battery
3. 12 megapixels (slightly less than your 14 megapixel+ requirement)
4. 35x optical zoom
5. Lots of things to fiddle with - yes
6. Seems to have decent ratings.

The lens is the equivilent of a 24mm f/2.7 - 840mm f/5.8 and is image stablised. Camera has a maximum shutter speed of 1/3200th down to 15 seconds, multi/centre/spot metering modes and can record video in 1080p. Oh it also has a 10.3 fps continuous shooting mode.

Not a bad bridge camera for the price. Looks good too and certainly worth a look at.

If you want to see what the Canon SX40 HS is capable of take a look at one of the groups on Flickr, all of the shots are taken with it -
